4A0 Case 4 History
Case 4 History ---- [70yo male with bilateral subdural hematomas and a past history of atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and hydrocephalus status-post ventriculo-peritoneal shunt for presumed normal pressure hydrocephalus. The significant neuropathologic findings in this case include the presence of superior sagittal sinus and right transverse sinus thrombosis, acute and chronic bilateral subdural hematomas and a resolving infarct in the right cerebellum. Within the superior sagittal sinus there was evidence of thrombi of varying ages. A section of the left corpus callosum demonstrated several small microinfarcts showing pallor of the tissue and macrophage infiltration.
