Case 5 History ---- [90yo male with Parkinsonism who was admitted for dehydration. Prior to hospitalization, the patient had a several month history of declining health. He was admitted several times for dehydration, hyponatremia, and malnutrition. At autopsy he was found to have Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation 1 (NBIA1).
The callosal lesion was interpreted as a single demyelinating plaque with myelin loss and relative axonal preservation. No (other?) evidence was found for central pontine myelinolysis (osmotic demyelination syndrome).]
