This patient developed a hemorrhagic infarct involving the left hemispheric internal capsule causing degeneration of much of the descending pathways on that side. The patient survived for another 4 years before dying. ---- There is loss of tissue involving part of the frontoparietal and dorsal temporal cortices and much of the internal capsule. Note the ipsilateral hydrocephalus ex vacuo.
