1B Lateral Geniculate Nucleus (LGN) H&E 4X
The normal LGN shows striking laminar distribution of neurons. The first layer of magnocellular neurons is marked (arrow) which is accompanied by one other layer of magnocellular neurons and four parvicellular layers. Enucleation results in lamina-selective degeneration.
