1A1-3 This elderly patient developed slowly progressive neurodegeneration characterized by ataxia and various cranial nerve palsies who died a short time after surgical resection of an epidermoid cyst. ---- The epidermoid cyst occupies the dorsal aspect of the brainstem and cerebellum (arrows) and only a small portion of the cerebellopontine angle (arrow).
