Sections of sinus contents from the posterior ethmoid sinus show normal ciliated respiratory epithelium fragments accompanied by discrete nodules of neuroglial tissue. The findings are consistent with heterotopic neuroglial tissue in the setting of cranial dysraphism (i.e., an encephalocele).
