Case 22 History ---- The patient is a five day old female with an encephalocele. Operative procedure: Repair of occipital encephalocele. ---- 22A1-4 Sections from the occipital region show skin with underlying soft tissue, including a cystic lesion, lined at least in part by ependymal cells and a subependymal primitive-appearing cellular collection, resembling germinal matrix.
