Case 27 History ---- The patient has congenital encephalocele proven by intrauterine ultrasound and CT perinatally who died 4 days after birth. ---- 27A Transverse sections show normal and malformative cortex and subcortical white matter. Most areas show six layer cortical differentiation but there are foci with poor laminar differentiation and polymicrogyria. In addition, there are prominent small congested blood vessels (angiomatosis) of the leptomeninges accompanied by numerous glial heterotopias. (H&E)
