Case 31 History ---- The patient was a 10 hour old female born at 36 weeks of gestation. She was thought to have craniorachischisis by ultrasound and labor was induced. There was diminished but not absent cranial bone structure; however, skin of the scalp was intact and the newborn did not have the facies of anencephaly. ---- 31A1,2 The encephalocele contents show a markedly dysmorphic nodular cerebral hemisphere. (The Bouin’s fixative accounts for the yellow color)
