Case 9 History ---- The patient is a four-day-old female, delivered by Cesarean section after 38 weeks of gestation with good prenatal care, who was noted prenatally to have a posterior encephalocele confirmed by MRI. At birth, the occipital mass measured approximately 10-12 cm in diameter, on a narrowed pedicle. Clinical diagnosis: Encephalocele. Operative procedure: Encephalocele repair. ---- 9A1-4 Several views of the encephalocele with T1-weighted contrast applied axial scan (9A1) and T2-weighted images (9A2-4) which show a complement of herniated brain tissue.
