5A Examples of large, dysmorphic cortical neurons (arrows, H&E). ---- Dysmorphic neurons are characterized by increased size of perikarya and nuclei and aggregated and marginally displaced Nissl substance. Abnormal forms are displaced into the white matter in some cases and may be noted distant from the epicenter of the lesion. (H&E)
