5A1-6 As in FCD ILAE IIA, dysmorphic neurons (arrows, 5A1-6) are often striking in perikaryal size and shape, with enlarged nuclei and unusual distribution of Nissl substance as well as admixed numbers of large cells with glassy eosinophilic cytoplasm ("balloon cells", arrowheads). (H&E)
