The enlarged neurons (arrow) fail to stain with GFAP, an astrocytic lineage marker. Numerous GFAP immunoreactive astrocytes are not enlarged, nor particularly clumped and do not appear to represent balloon cells. Many are likely reactive (GFAP IHC).
