These lesions often contained immunoreactivity for histiocytes/macrophages (CD68). Special stains for organisms CMV and Toxoplasmosis did not identify any organisms or their antigens. The extra-neural part of the autopsy including placenta did not demonstrate an infectious process. (CD68 IHC)
