The brain was megalencephalic (1350 gms vs normal age ~850 grams). Gross examination of the base of the brain shows variation in gyri from relatively broad gyri in the temporal lobe (arrow) to apparent microgyri in the orbital surface of the frontal lobe (arrowhead). The midbrain and pons are quite abnormal in gross appearance.
