The cross sections of the brainstem confirm the loss of cerebral peduncles, decrease in pontine size and loss of the shape of the medulla. The ION is clearly diminished in size and is abnormally shaped. The pyramids (arrowhead, 1A9) shows more extensive gray matter and fasciculation.
