Washington University Experience | EPILEPSY | Dentate gyrus, duplication | 1A Dentate Gyrus Malformation (Case 6) gross _2
A common abnormality in chronic seizure disorder is an alteration in the laminar arrangement of the dentate gyrus, with dispersal of cells or sometimes duplication of the laminar arrangement. ---- Dentate gyrus malformations may be unilateral (arrow), as in this case (Case 6) where many of the hippocampal formation landmarks seem lost on the left side but not on the right.
