1A Encephalomalacia, Remote (Case 2) 1 H&E whole mount
Case 2 - This 8 year old patient with a history of cortical malformation had experienced an encephaloclastic event following grid placement some years prior to neurosurgical resection. ---- The specimen shows gray and white matter disruption (arrows, H&E). Patchy loss of cortex involved the depths of the sulci as shown in this H&E stained cortical section. The subcortical white matter is pale and has nodular residua which is well shown by the NeuN stain in the next image.
