1A1 EEG Grid effect (Case 1) H&E 1A
Many patients have prior placement of electrodes for preoperative workup followed eventually by seizure resection surgery. These electrodes or the procedure resulting in placement may produce injury to the underlying leptomeninges and parenchyma and, may occasionally produce cortical injury, ischemic lesions, inflammation and/or occasionally mimic leptomeningitis. ---- 1A1-3 Several days between placement and surgical resection has resulted in subpial hemorrhage, endothelial prominence, eosinophilic neuronal necrosis confined to the most superficial cortical layers (arrows) (H&E).
