Case 3 3A1-3 This brain specimen is that of a five year old with severe seizures beginning near the time of birth who failed medical therapy. The patient developed a degree of global cortical atrophy over the years; however, atrophy (Image #3A2) showed a marked predilection for the hippocampi, particularly the left hippocampus seen at higher magnification (Image #3A3).
