This region is characterized by a more mature abscess appearance. The central edge (arrowheads) no longer contains large numbers of PMNs. The area marked with an arrow represents gliotic brain tissue. The area in between these two consists of developing dense collagenous capsule with a more central aggregate of chronic inflammatory cells (H&E)
