Case 1 History ---- The patient was a 59 year old man with a history of non-small cell carcinoma of lung with multiple brain lesions gradually increasing in size and enhancing for one to two years. These lesions were treated with fractionated radiation 2.5 years prior and with gamma knife treatment 1.5 years prior to his current admission. He developed a progressively enlarging lesion in the left parieto-occipital lobe which was biopsied. After biopsy he was treated appropriately and recovered from his infection. Later it was found that a previous admission at another institution identified a pulmonary process thought to be MAI.
