Case 1 History ---- This 6 year old child was bitten by a tick two weeks prior to developing a fever, headache, malaise, anorexia with marked electrolyte disturbances and acidosis. He develop two seizure-like episodes following which he became less responsive and developed a confluent petechial rash. General pathologic findings included multiple petechial hemorrhages involving many organs.
