Case 5 History ---- The patient was a 12 year old male who expired approximately five weeks after hospital admission for chronic GI bleeding of unclear etiology. His symptoms did not respond to pulsed steroids or Cytoxan. He subsequently developed worsening GI bleeding, became febrile and showed signs of multi-system organ failure. Blood cultures were positive for Candida and several bacterial species.
