This whole mount shows the relevant relationships of the tissues shown in 1A7. The long blue arrow designates the right internal carotid artery and adjacent infected areas. The pituitary is identified by a short blue arrow and the left internal carotid by an arrowhead. The sphenoid sinus is labeled and immediately above it is the bony sinus wall which is caught up in the infection (red arrow). (Stain is Alcian Blue, Orange G and PAS used for pituitary cellular phenotype determination prior to pituitary hormone IHC)
