Fixed brain sections with lateral (1A4) and ventral (11A5,6) views show sulcal infiltrate which to me looks somewhat less purulent and more mucinous than typical bacterial meningitis. In any case the infiltrate forms a confluent aggregate rather than the punctate appearance of granulomas.
