A 51 year old previously healthy patient with a 7 month history of cryptococcal meningitis which was treated with long term amphotericin and fluorocytosine unsuccessfully. Examination at autopsy demonstrated active disease, although the distribution was strikingly patchy (arrow, #9A2). Large numbers of organisms were present in the autopsy specimen.
