1A0 Case 1 History
This patient was a 64 year old woman with a history of hepatitis C status post liver transplant with a recent admission for spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and anemia. She was readmitted for hemolysis, GI bleeding, and infection. The patient continued to have refractory anemia, hypotension, and an elevated WBC count with no overt site of blood loss in a setting of recurrent hepatitis C infection. She developed acute renal failure/hepatorenal syndrome in the setting of end-stage liver and died.
