Case 4 History ---- The patient was 68 years old presenting with a cognitive disorder who had previously undergone kidney transplantation for chronic renal failure. Brain MRI revealed three hemispheric lesions. He did not survive his hospitalization. General autopsy results showed a large pelvic abscess involving the hilum of the transplanted kidney. Culture subsequently proved infection with Cladophialophora bantiana. (AANP Diagnostic slide session 2006, Case 4)
