11C6 Mucormycosis Cavernous Sinus IC N13 (Case 11) H&E 2
11C6,7 This section of the right frontal lobe infarct shows eosinophilic neurons, endothelial prominence and perivascular PMNs, seen better at higher magnification in 11C7. Although searched for diligently, there were no fungi in the parenchyma or within the intraparenchymal vasculature in any of the sections of the right hemispheric parenchyma. The working diagnosis was that the fungus involved only the vessel wall, thrombosing it and inducing right hemispheric (sterile) cerebral infarction (H&E)
