11D5,6 The same infarcted right hemispheric cortex area shown in 11C6,7 is shown stained for fungi (GMS). No fungi were demonstrated in the parenchyma or within vessel walls in the infarcted brain supporting the idea that the large area of infarction resulted from vascular occlusion and (sterile) infarction.
