Successively higher magnifications of the organism demonstrate a distinctive outer or cuticular layer (arrow) which has marked eosinophilia and an area with focal mineralization (arrowheads), and has hair-like protrusions (called microtrichia), seen best at high magnification in 1B4,5 (H&E).
