Case 1 History
This adult female Atlantic bottle-nose dolphin was found stranded on a beach. Examination showed extensive ulcerative dermatitis, severe regenerative anemia, and lymphopenia with increasing eosinophilia. General necropsy findings included moderate focally extensive myocardial necrosis, lymphadenopathy, and numerous granulomas in many organs. The brain showed an area of adherent, thickened meninges on the ventral brainstem. (Image from Virtual Slide, AANP 2000, Case 7)
