Case 15 History ---- The patient is a 56 year old HIV positive man who presented with progressive fatigue, word finding difficulties, and a 20-30 pound weight loss over the past month. On brain MRI, a peripherally enhancing mass in the right basal ganglia was noted with extensive vasogenic edema extending into the right optic tract and midbrain as well as into the supratentorial white matter, thought pre-operatively to represent a high-grade glioma or cerebritis.
