Case 5 History ---- This was a 7 week old patient with thymic aplasia who developed several opportunistic infections within 3 weeks of birth. Although it is undetermined when this infection was acquired and may, indeed, not be congenital, a number of patients exposed in utero to CMV do not manifest symptoms until sometime after birth.
