Case 4 History ---- The patient was a 29 year old man with HIV infection documented seven years previously. Although at admission for worsening kidney function his CD4 count was 56, he had no history of opportunistic infections or AIDS associated neoplasms. He carried a history of AIDS encephalopathy with atrophy but no evidence for PML. The patient became unresponsive and died.
