Case 8 History ----This 27 year old male with polysubstance abuse and end stage AIDS developed Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, disseminated Cytomegalovirus infection, Mycobacteria kansasii pneumonia, multiple species of bacteremia and AIDS cholangiopathy. with multiple detoxification admissions. The patient presented complaining of headache, nausea, vomiting and fever as well as neck stiffness, photophobia, and pleuritic chest pain and experienced a tonic-colonic seizure. The patient's neurologic status was poor with little spontaneous movement as well as nonreactive pupils. Head CT revealed ventriculomegaly with periventricular white matter changes. He was extubated with supportive measures only and he died.
