5A0 Case 5 History
Case 5 History ---- This 18 year old man was in good health until the sudden onset of malaise, delirium, anorexia and headache with meningismus (LP showed 851 wbc (86% LC and 10% PMNs), glucose 53 mg, protein 60). A brain scan showed uptake in the right and left temporal lobes. The right temporal lesion was biopsied demonstrating HSV-I necrotizing encephalitis. The patient worsened and died 5 days after admission.
