Case 2 History ---- The patient was a 35 year old man diagnosed with HIV whose past medical history was significant for oral candidiasis, disseminated histoplasmosis, oral leukoplakia and chronic hepatitis B. A brain biopsy demonstrated PML. He was status-post Ommaya placement for an Ara-C treatment protocol. He had experienced difficulty swallowing and possible aspiration pneumonia and was treated for pneumonia and discharged from the hospital, dying several weeks later.
