4A0 Case 4 History
Case 4 History ---- The patient was a 36 year old male with a history of AIDS diagnosed in 1998 with a diagnosis of PML in 1999 (by MRI and CSF studies positive for JC virus) and was on an experimental treatment but had continued progression of symptoms including difficulty following commands, diminished speech, abnormal swallowing as well as falling. The patient had had a decline in his CD4 counts with a nadir of 4. Over the course of the seven days his neurologic status continued to decline and the patient became unresponsive. His respiratory status worsened and following discussion with family the patient was made 'DNR' and expired.
