Case 1 History ---- A 24 year old pregnant female was seen in the ER with musculoskeletal pain. In the ER she had a focal seizure progressing to generalized seizure activity with loss of consciousness, fever to 107oF and experienced a spontaneous abortion. No organism was discovered in her serum or CSF. The patient never recovered consciousness and died of DIC and multi-organ failure. In the current case a rabies strain associated with the Mexican free-tailed bat was identified. (AANP Diagnostic Slide Session 1997- Case 08)
