Case 7 History ---- This 49 year old woman presented with fever, altered mental status, respiratory failure, and hepatic failure resulting in hepatic encephalopathy. At autopsy, she was found to also have central pontine myelinolysis and cerebellar vermal atrophy, all thought likely to reflect a nutritional, osmotic and alcoholic basis.
