Washington University Experience | METABOLIC | Alcoholism - Overview | Alcohol - Anterior Superior Vermis | 9B1 Atrophy, anterior superior vermis (Case 9) H&E whole mount copy
A whole mount of the cerebellar vermis shows pallor and loss of granule cells involving its anterior superior region. The exaggeration of neuron loss in the depths of the sulci (arrow) suggests the possibility of superimposed ischemia as well (H&E). However, there was no comparable involvement of the non-vermal cerebellar hemispheres.
