This whole mount of the callosum stained immunohistochemically for neurofilaments shows pallor in much of the central part of the callosum (arrow) and the focal lesions (arrowhead) previously shown in image #1C1. The apparent lesions in the cingulate cortex are artifacts of staining. (NF IHC)
