Case 10 History ---- The patient was 14 day old male infant who was born weighing 1520 g (approximately the 28-29 weeks EGA) following an otherwise uneventful pregnancy and premature labor despite treatment with terbutaline. Steroids were given for 24 hours. He developed respiratory distress syndrome, hyaline membrane disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and intraventricular hemorrhage who developed acute pulmonary hemorrhage, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Additional postmortem findings include extensive acute subendocardial myocardial infarction, centrilobular necrosis of the liver, acute renal tubular necrosis, intraventricular hemorrhage, acute bilateral periventricular infarcts and kernicterus.
