At autopsy the weight of the unfixed brain was 211g (normal=198+/-48 g). ---- 9A1 Serial coronal sections showed bright yellow discoloration involving the basal ganglia, thalami and hypothalamus. There is an intraparenchymal hemorrhage within the germinal matrix of the right lateral ventricle measuring 3 x 3 cm with focal extension of this parenchymal hemorrhage into the ventricular system as well as subarachnoid space in the basal cisterns.
