1A1-8 Gross Neuropathology: ---- 1A1,2 These coronal sections of the frontal lobe demonstrate large patches of cortex with thinning and a laminar appearance (arrows). Notice the expansion and likely blunting of the lateral ventricles. This is not the typical appearance of infarction, involving many different vascular territories without being limited to any single one. Similarly, the crests of gyri may be preferentially involved (arrows) rather than the ischemic predilection for the depths of the gyri.
