1E4,5 A whole mount stained with H&E (1E4) or with the astrocyte marker GFAP (1E5) shows loss of GFAP immunoreactivity in the necrotic cerebral cortex with strong staining in cortical layer 1 and underlying white matter. The apparent increased size of the width of layer 1 reflects a partially tangential cut.(H&E)
