Case 6 History ---- The decedent as a 65 year old woman with multiple hospital admissions for alcoholism, which included advanced cirrhosis, ascites, malnutrition, neuropathy, and delirium tremens. Additionally, she developed, carcinoma of the tongue with lung metastases, pulmonary hemorrhage and esophagitis. ---- Neuroautopsy revealed micro-hemorrhages and gliosis involving multiple foci in the brainstem tegmentum adjacent to the IV ventricle. Atrophy of the anterior vermis with loss of Purkinje cells completed her neuropathologic findings.
