Washington University Experience | MISCELLANEOUS | Amyloidoma | 1F1 Amyloidoma, cerebral (Case 1) Lambda 2
1F1-3 Although this immunohistochemical test for lambda light chain is overstained, it is clear that derivation of the amyloid from lambda light chains is favored. This case was sent to the Mayo laboratories for liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC MS/MS) which was performed on peptides extracted from Congo Red-positive/micro dissected areas of paraffin-embedded left occipital brain mass specimen. LC MS/MS detected a peptide profile consistent with AL (lambda)-type amyloid deposition. These findings further support the diagnosis of amyloidosis and indicate AL (lambda)-type amyloid deposition.
